Tshenolo Waste Joins The Ratel Expedition Race as Presenting Sponsor
Exciting news, Tshenolo Waste is proud to announce its Presenting Sponsorship Agreement with The Ratel Expedition Race, the race is set to be a world-class and character testing adventure in the breathtaking and rugged terrain of the Richtersveld. This partnership underscores Tshenolo Waste’s ongoing commitment to supporting and growing the sport of adventure racing, ensuring that major events like The Ratel continue to thrive.
The first-ever Ratel Expedition Adventure Race is a once-in-a-lifetime experience that will push participants to their limits as they traverse the awe-inspiring landscapes of the Richtersveld, a UNESCO World Heritage site. The race, which runs from June 4-15, 2025, will see teams navigate a gruelling 450km course that includes hiking, mountain biking, and kayaking through one of Africa’s most extreme environments.
Malusi, the owner of Tshenolo Waste, expressed his enthusiasm about the sponsorship, saying:
"Like the saying goes, one hand washes the other. We as The Tshenolo Group are proud to announce our Presenting Sponsorship Agreement with Brundle for The Ratel Expedition Race. Over the years, Tshenolo has been a part of this vibrant and growing sport, and we are excited to once again be invited to play such a pivotal role in the development of adventure racing.
As colleagues and fellow directors, we believe it’s only right to support one another in making all our races a success, especially a major event like The Ratel. We wish Brundle and the NFNF team the best of success in planning this cumbersome event, knowing what goes into preparing for a race of this magnitude, particularly in such a remote and challenging location."
The Richtersveld, often described as the ‘holy grail’ of adventure destinations, presents an unparalleled challenge with its lava mountains, sandy plains, and the life-giving waters of the Orange River. Competitors will experience the stark beauty of this landscape as they push themselves through the elements, embodying the endurance and resilience of the race’s namesake, the honey badger.
Robert Le Brun, Race Director for The Ratel, shared his excitement about bringing adventure racers from around the world to such a unique and untouched area:
"The combination of the remote wilderness, the raw power of the Orange River, and the towering peaks makes this an unforgettable challenge. It’s an opportunity for adventure racers to be tested in one of Africa’s most beautiful and rugged environments."
With Tshenolo Waste stepping up as the Presenting Sponsor, the event is set to reach new heights, ensuring a first-class racing experience for all participants. Malusi also extended his gratitude to the Namibian government and the people of Namibia for their continued support, as well as the Adventure Racing World Series (ARWS) for their invaluable assistance in preparing for an event of this scale.
